Prolongation of the project “Success and Independence”, financed with the support of Program RO10 – CORAI, a program financed by the EEA Grants 2009-2014 and administered by the Romanian Social Development Fund (RSDF).

Purpose of the project:

 

Increasing equal opportunities in education for young people in disadvantaged situation from Tirgu Mures and Târnăveni, including Roma youth too. The purpose would be supporting personal development with integrated methods for  “Lifelong Learning” within the Community Center, teaching independent education, literacy and organization of recreational activities, involving volunteers and their relatives.

 

PROJECT Budget – increasing from 1.823.605,34 to 2.453.504,30 lei

 

Own contribution  10% of the total cost, meaning 272.611,59 lei, volunteer activities and financial contribution

 

Implemented activities:

For the sake of lifelong learning, two Community Center was formed in Tîrgu Mureş and Târnăveni, where there were organized professional trainings and summer camp for young people in disadvantaged situation. For an effective service we made a computer center these people and we bought a 17-person minivan.

 

  • 65 volunteers participated in professional development, such as: youth worker, social mediator, art worker.
  • 180 young people participated in counseling, socialization activities, 100 among them being Roma ethnicity. In addition, 100 adult (their relatives) received counseling and cloth donations.
  • In the summer of 2015, the Divers Association organized a summer camp for over 60 young Roma.
  • 60 young people get professional education in building and vehicle cleaning, horticulture and in floristry.
  • In the perioad of October 2015- February 2016 it took place the "Success and and Independence in security" prevention campaign in 17 grammar schools and high schools, in Targu Mures (10 schools) and Târnăveni (7 schools). The prevention campaign had 5 topics: juvenile delinquency in schools, the bullying - bullying defense, defenses and prevention against street crime, protection of young people against human trafficking, crimes against the virtual environment. The message of the campaign reached nearly 3,000 children.
  • It was completed a - "Map of the County with the necessities of disadvantaged children and young people", a social science study

 

 

Future plans:

Next to the overdue activities, the project "Success and and Independence" has been extended until 30 of October 2016.

New plan includes:

-      Counseling and socialization activities for 40 young people

-      Counseling for 60 adults, relatives of these young people

-      In the summer holliday 180 children from Tîrgu Mureş and Târnăveni will participate in different holiday activities, 50 among them partaking in a camp too

-      15 zoung people will get professional education in cooking

-      We will continue the "Success and and Independence in security" prevention campaign in 10 schools from rural zones, next Tg.Mureş. The prevention campaign had 5 topics: juvenile delinquency in schools, the bullying - bullying defense, defenses and prevention against street crime, protection of young people against human trafficking, crimes against the virtual environment.

-      During the summer holiday we will train 30 ”school mediator” and 60 “gipsy language teacher”

-      The “Alpha Community Center”’s specialists will also benefit from trainings, helping many disadvantaged young people to integrate themselves in society.
